Came to stay a night in Friday Harbor with my neice and nephew who I hadn't seen for about 25 years (saying that makes me feel old). Had a wonderful day fishing on Puget Sound and then back home for a BBQ of fish from the freezer. A full day of just great fun reconnecting with family. Katie and Andrew are now in the favorite relatives category,

Spending the weekend in Anacortes WA decompressing from the plane ride from Bangkok with my great friends Doug and Annie. Great conversation and wonderful food! Makes the idea of running away to live in a tent for 3 months maybe a little bit less romantic.

This year I will be using some new equipment courtesy of Cascade Designs.
1. Titanium kettle providing a lighter cooking solution. (https://www.msrgear.com/cookware/titan-kettle)
2. NeoAir Xlite very compact sleeping mattress. About half the packed size of the EvoLite mattress I used last year. (https://www.thermarest.com/mattresses/neoair-xlite-2)
3. Hubba Hubba NX 2 man tent, European version with green rain fly for enhanced stealth camping (http://europebound.com/store/product/349709/MSR-Hubba-Hubba-NX-Tent/)
I will attempt the Transamerica Trail one more time. On 20 May I will fly to the USA and make the rounds of visiting family and friends, then head for Astoria Oregon and start the path.
At this point I am traveling solo. Hope to meet other riders along the way.
